Syndicate manager appointed
PA Wellington David Bradford, the executive director of the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, is to resign next month to become general manager of Magic Millions Syndicates. The new company has been formed to provide expert advice and professional back-up to the numerous potential buyers expected to attend the inaugural Magic Millions Sale, at Trentham on January 20 and 22. It is envisaged the new company will relieve trainers of the onerous task of forming syndicates prior to or after purchasing yearlings at the sale, which offers the incentive of two $1 million races for its graduates. Magic Millions Syndicates hopes to be able to put potential syndicate members in touch with prospective trainers before the sale. Over the last few months Mr Bradford, a former racing journalist
and studmaster, has liaised with the Commerce Commission in establishing definitive syndication regulations. He has extensive contacts throughout the thoroughbred industry, and has been involved in numerous international promotions of the New Zealand thoroughbred.
Mr Bradford will oversee the operation from Auckland.
