Waterworks system

The Waimairi District Council is investigating the replacement or extension of the electronic part of its waterworks system. The district’s deputy engineer, Mr Errol Young, said yesterday that some electronics firms had been invited to make submissions on systems they could supply. Waimairi at present had a telemetry system, Mr Young said. For the council to completely replace

it would cost about $60,000. The council’s investigation was in its preliminary stages only. Mr Young said no special instructions had been given to the firms about compatibility of the new system with other local authority systems in Christchurch. The investigations of the new system had been begun before anything definite on amalgamation of authorities was known.
