The second special meeting will be held immediately after the first special meeting. FIRST SPECIAL MEETING Agenda: 1. To discuss Award negotiations, claims and union services. 2. To vote on the following resolution: "That the policy of this Union be that the services of the Union are available only to members of the Union." SECOND SPECIAL MEETING Agenda: To discuss and vote by secret ballot to determine whether a union membership clause is to be included in the awards and agreements listed in this notice. Note: 1. A separate ballot will be held for each of the awards and agreements listed. 2. The Labour Relations Act provides that the persons eligible to vote in each ballot will be the adult workers who will, if the union membership clause is inserted in the award or agreement, be required to become or remain members of the union. (NOTE: Most awards and agreements have salary exemption figures. If you are paid more than this you are not required to be a member and therefore are not eligible to vote.) Applications must be made in Form 8 under the Labour Relations Regulations which is available from Clerical Workers Union offices, The Registrar of Unions. P. O. Applications for special votes must be made at least 14 days before the date of the special meeting you would have attended had you been able to do so. Certain conditions apply under the Labour Relations Act for eligibility to cast a special vote. Right of non-members to vote if covered by award or agreement The Labour Relations Act provides that a worker who is not a member of the union (but who is covered by any of the awards or agreements to be balloted and would be required to become a member of the union) who wishes to vote in the ballot shall submit to the Returning Officer an application for authority to vote. Applications must be made in Form 10 under the Labour Relations Regulations which is available from Clerical Workers Union offices. The Registrar of Unions, P. 0.
