Protection assured

For those wishing to purchase a Japanese imported car and who may be uneasy about possible problems in the future, they should inquire about the Fortron warranty. The Fortron warranty, which is only available at time of purchase of a vehicle from a Licensed Motor Vehicle Dealer, offers a far-reaching two year protection. There are 90 Fortron garages in Christchurch and over 500 in New Zealand. These garages will fix the vehicle under warranty with an added guarantee concerning the quality of workmanship. The managing director of Fortron, Mr Bruce Higgins, said that Fortron registered garages fully understand the consequences of the warranty and offer an extremely competent service. The Fortron warranty is not involved with ordinary wear and tear related to motoring such as servicing, tyres and petrol costs. “For the cost of $295 (plus GST), it is a great insurance,” he said. THe warranty has eight major clauses. The Fortron warranty will cover the repair of any failure of internally lubricated parts of the car, engine, gearbox, differential under the terms of the contract. The Fortron warranty will also cover, (under a Blue Ribbon warranty), the cooling system, steering, braking, electrical, front supension, rear suspension, fuel system and

axles under the terms of the contract. The Fortron warranty in the event of a claim will reimburse the warranty contract holder, up to an amount of $6O for towing the vehicle to a Fortron Service Centre. The Fortron warranty will reimburse the cost of car hire up to $3O per day to a limit of $l5O in total should the Fortron warranty covered vehicle take longer than 48 hours to repair. The Fortron warranty will pay hire purchase or lease commitments up to a limit of $2OO in total should the Fortron warranty covered vehicle take longer than 30 consecutive days to repair. The Fortron warranty will reimburse the cost of alternative accommodation should the warranty covered vehicle breakdown outside of the owners town, or city, and that repair takes longer than 24 hours, to a maximum of $5O per night, four nights in total. The Fortron warranty protects the owner’s investment by ensuring longer life, smoother running and better performance by the vehicle. The Fortron warranty enables the owner to budget motoring costs and guard against unexpected heavy repair bills. The first $4O on each claim is to be paid by the owner as detailed in the warranty contract.
