Furnace explosion

Two workers were injured in an explosion in a furnace at Acme Metal and Drum Company, Woolston, yesterday. One man suffered moderate eye injuries when the blast sprayed pieces of concrete in his face. The other man has minor injuries to a leg. The explosion occurred about 12.30 p.m., as damp wood was being loaded into a metal furnace. The Labour Department is investigating.
