Obituary Mr Reginald Lund
Mr Reginald Lund, a former director of the International Wool Secretariat and Air New Zealand, has died in London. He was 79. Mr Lund joined the secretariat in 1946 as the Wool Board’s representative and was appointed chairman of the group three years later. He retired in 1969 as the deputy managing director. He also served as a director of Air New Zealand and chairman of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company in London. Mr Lund, a Deans scholar at Christchurch Boys’ High School, began
his career as a cadet reporter on the Christchurch “Sun” in 1926. He joined “The Press” in 1930 and was appointed its chief reporter in 1934. In 1935 he was appointed editor of the “Southland Times.” During World War 11, Mr Lund served as an intelligence officer with the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the Solomon Islands. He was later invited to attend the United States Naval Air Combat Intelligence School as a lecturer. Mr Lund was awarded the M.B.E. in 1946.
