South Island ski-field reports received yesterday by the New Zealand Snow Centre in Christchurch were: Mount Hutt: snow base 28cm; last fall September 8,20 cm; spring snow; all facilities operating; chains to be carried. Remarkables: snow base 50cm; soft spring snow; all facilities operating; no chains required. Tasman Glacier open, ski planes subject to weather. Fox Glacier open, spring snow, ski planes and helicopter operating, advance reservations required. Cardrona: spring snow, Captains, McDougal and learners areas open; chains.
