Invention could slash power bills

NZPA Sydney A new Australian-devel-oped energy saving device could save millions of dollars in power bills each year for business, according to its manufacturer. The Electric Saver thermostat could slash electricity costs for commercial power users by up to 50 per cent, the general manager of Megapine Pty, Ltd, Mr Ross Hancock, said. The self-programming device achieved savings by maintaining highly accurage temperatures on the equipment it controlled. This led to greater efficiency and more effective energy use, Mr Hancock said. “Typical uses where dramatic power savings can be made include refrigeration, air conditioning and water heating. Megapine has backed the device with a moneyback guarantee if minimum savings of 20 per cent cannot be achieved or if the device does not pay for itself in 18 months.
