Store stock yardings small
A sale of store sheep and cattle at Addington yesterday had only small yardings. Some very good-quality two-year steers were offered and sold from $440 to $492. Better quality heifers from from $2BO to $340. Simmental cows with calves at foot made from $390 to $442. Yearling cattle were of
mixed quality, with small-to-medium beef-bred steers making $lBO to $258. Yearling heifers made $l4O to $l7O. The old-ewe section was again made up of very lightconditioned stock. These sold surprisingly well. Prices firmed up to $3, with most sales at $5 and $6 and some reaching
$7.25. Ewes and lambs also sold well, with woolly animals making up to $13.75 and shorn stock $8 to $lO. The yarding had 980 adult sheep, including ewes and lambs, 445 hoggets, and 449 cattle. Sales included.— Two-year cattle: D. W.
Scarlett (Fairlie), 20 Murray Grey cross steers at $322 to $342; N. Souness (Oxford), 37 Angus and Angus cross heifers at $238 to $290; Burnett Valley Station (Cave), 50 steers at $440 to $492; Sandhurst Farms (Weka Pass), 30 heifers at $2BO to $340; Richmond Hill Farm (Christchurch), 24 cows and calves at $390 to $442.
Yearling cattle: J. K. Forrester (Hawarden), 14 Hereford heifers at $146 to $162; L. R. and L. J. Forrester (Hawarden), 7 Hereford steers at $lBO, five Hereford heifers at $l4B. Sheep: J. K. Forrester (Hawarden), 170 shorn Corriedale ewe hoggets at $l6 to $17.25.
