Goldcorp outlets sold to Australia
Australian jewellery manufacturer, Auro Bijoux Corp., Ltd, has bought the Auckland retail outlets of Goldcorp Jewellery, Ltd, in receivership, for an undisclosed sum. The purchase included Goldcorp jewellery shops in Queen Street, Takapuna, Manukau City and Newmarket, ' newly appointed general manager, Mrs Lynley Drain, said. It also took in Goldcorp’s estate and antique jewellery stock. Mr Grant King, Mr John Rennell and Mrs Drain were principals in the venture which would trade under the name Rennell King Jewellery, Ltd, from mid-October. Mrs Drain said Auro Bijoux produced gold and silver jewellery under the Jewelmark trade name. The purchase gave Auro Bijoux direct access to a retail operation and it intended to achieve “a substantial presence” in the Auckland retail market. It had no plans to expand beyond Auckland at this stage, she said. Goldcorp Jewellery was a subsidiary of failed gold dealer, Goldcorp Holdings, Ltd, which went into receivership in early July.
