Proportional representation
Sir, —I thought New Zealand was supposed to be run by New Zealanders, not the French, so why does John W. Wood go on about what the French want? He says they are "politically mature,” but are they really any better than us? Are they any more mature than the inhabitants of most Western democracies? If we must follow the French in rejecting proportional representation, then logically we must also follow them in rejecting international law and committing acts of terrorism.— Yours, etc., JOHN RING. September 19, 1988.
