Fair raises $14,000
The Theatre Royal book fair held at the week-end raised more than $14,000 for the theatre and charities, according to the organisers. The fair’s co-ordinator, Mrs Miriam Montigue, said the total raised this year would be close to $14,500, up from $13,000 last year. Mrs Montique said possibly half of the 40,000 books given by Canterbury people had been sold. The rest would go into storage for next year. A special selection would be sent to the Greymouth Public Library, which lost about 6000 books in last week’s flood.
