Bishop has whistle

Southland’s leading rugby referee, Dave Bishop, will be in charge of the Auckland-Canterbury Ranfurly Shield and national championship match at Eden Park on October 1. Mr Bishop’s high ranking among the referees has, been recognised with his appointment to control several of this season’s key matches, including the AucklandWellington fixture at Athletic Park and the OtagoWellington clash at Carisbrook last Saturday. Mr Bishop also controlled the Auckland-Canterbury national championship match at Lancaster Park last season, won by Auckland, 24-15.
