Spring scene
Sir,—An empty car space by the Botanic Gardens prompted me to wander amongst the daf-; fodils. I became aware of the; beautiful sound of a string quar-; tet. It must be a recording, F thought. No, it was an extremely, artistic and talented group,; whose musicianship and temperament created fine artistry. Later, a young guitarist, with great skill and sensitivity, restored to me the magical sound of Segovia at Festival Hall in 1952. These young people matched the beauty of the gardens, and gave great joy to the many listeners, as did two flautists. — Yours, etc.,
CLIFTON COOK. September 11, 1988.
