Fund-raising to promote facilities

PA Hamilton The Cambridge Racquets Club will boast seven allweather tennis courts and upgraded squash facilities if a $400,000 fundraising programme is successful. The club has hired professional fund-raisers in an effort to net the sum by midOctober. While the programme will be officially launched at a gala dinner on September 3, fund-raisers say money' raised has already passed the $38,000 mark. The funds will be used to

build seven all-weather tennis courts, upgrade lighting and pay for major reconstructions of the tennis pavilion including covered spectator viewing and sponsor boxes. The club also hopes to upgrade the club rooms and changing rooms and recondition the squash courts, the club president, Mr Gary Fairweather, said. In this, the club’s centennial year, members felt it was important to do something for the future, Mr Fairweather said.
