Coaching post for Lillee?
NZPA-AAP London Dennis Lillee, the former Australian test fast bowler enjoying his first taste of English county cricket with Northamptonshire this season, could be back in a coaching capacity next year. Northants has approached Lillee with a view to having him return and continue the work he has been doing with local youngsters. His fast bowling sessions also have been conducted with boys from other counties.
“Negotiations are still at a very early stage,” Northants’ secretary-manager, Steve Coverdale, said. “Ideally, we would like to have . Dennis for something like an eight-week period in the middle of next season," Mr Coverdale said. Lillee himself is keen on the idea if details can be settled.
“I would very much like to come back to Northants,” Lillee said.
It’s just a matter of sitting down and sorting out when or if I can give the time with my other commitments”, he said. Lillee had a bad start to his county career slipping over in the field in the second match of the season last May and tearing ligaments in his right ankle.
