Ena’s net in tangle

Ena Sharpies’ hairnet will be auctioned at a charity sale in Britain later this month and Granada Television, the producers of “Coronation Street,” are far from happy.

It seems actress Violet Carson left the legendary net to her sister Nellie Kelly, and before Nellie died recently she expressed a wish that Ena’s most famous asset should go to a “Coronation Street” museum.

But somewhere along the way things got twisted and the net found its way into the catalogue for a charity sale due to be held this month. And chiefs at Granada are really tearing their hair out.

“We don’t want to cause an upset but we’re quite sure Mrs Kelly intended Granada to have the net,” says a spokesman.
