Ticketing for match

Ticketing will take place for the first time in Canterbury’s national first division rugby championship programme this season when the home team opposes the high flying Otago at Lancaster Park on September 17. The No. 1,2, 3 and 4 stands will be ticketed, but the open No. 5 stand will be treated as part of the embankment, which is at present being demolished in sections, and the charge for that stand will be the same as the embankment, $5. The president of the Canterbury Rugby Union, Les Russell, told members of the management committee at its meeting last evening that a big crowd was expected for the

match, especially if Canterbury returned from its coming northern tour with its unbeaten record intact. A Belfast second grade player, Alistair Bolt, who was ordered from the field against Burnside last Saturday for foul play, was suspended for two playing Saturdays. The suspension will effectively mean that he will miss his team’s last two games of the season. An application from the Linwood senior player, Andrew Britt, to play in Wales was approved by the Canterbury union and forwarded to the New Zealand union for final approval. The Canterbury B team to play Southland B at Invercargill on Saturday is.—

John McAllister; Mark Carrington, Steve Hansen, Kieran Flynn; Grant Wright or Kose Seinafo, Greg Coffey; Ross Adler, John Cook; Hamish Robinson, Tom Coughlan (captain), Vernon Mtiir, Mark Hudson; Simon Foley, Andrew Owen, Robert Taeafu. Reserves: Backs: Jamie Flynn, Greg Jones. Forwards: Ralph Wallace, Clynt Beaumont. The Canterbury Colts team to play Southland Colts at Invercargill on Saturday is.— Greg O’Reilly; Brian Hayton, Jason Kilworth, Jordan Scott; Wiremu Maunsell, Greg McFadden; Jon Preston; Michael Methven; Andrew Langley, Mark McAtamney, Craig Philpott, Tony MacDonald; David Porter, Greg Moriarty (captain), Hamish Murray.
