Kerykeion works soundly at Woodville
Special correspondent Palmerston North Kerykeion worked soundly at Woodville yesterday morning in preparation for the Backhouse i Handicap at the Wanganui meeting on Saturday. Fast work took place well out on the course proper, which was heavy. Kerykeion went 1400 metres, taking 1:23.3 for the last 1200 m. He picked up Any Pound at the 600 m, and the latter finished ahead. Kerykeion ran his last 600 m in 435. Although now a nine-year-
old, he has won three races at Wanganui and been placed in four of his other five starts, so he should be respected this week. Noel Harris has the mount Attorney General finished ahead of Flexman at the end of 1000 m in 1:8, the last 600 m in 39.55. Attorney General was having his first serious workout since hanging badly and failing when favourite at Levin. He went well enough yesterday though he has a tough task in the Wanganui Guineas. Cultured Star Mill-
stream went 600 m in 40.35. Cultured Star is in the final event at Wanganui. Race rival, Whenuakura Star, and Silver Anna ran 800 m in 56.25, the last 600 m in 41.25. Disintergrate, Am I Tall and Dudelsack galloped 1000 m in 1:11, the last 600 m in 41.65. Dudelsack was a bold fourth in his Levin debut and is a chance in the Cambridge Stud Maiden No. 2 on Saturday. Waipukurau trial winner Persuaded went 600 m in 41.25. Starlaine required 40 for a similar task.
