Rebels take Afghan town
NZPA-Reuter Kabul The commander of Soviet forces in Afghanistan said half his troops would be out of the country by today and would not help recapture a city that has fallen to Muslim rebels. General Gromov acknowledged on Sunday that the northern Afghan provincial capital of Kunduz had fallen to Muslim rebels after Soviet troops left last week. He said Moscow’s forces would not return to help the Afghan Army in the province.
