Lendl advances
NZPA-Reuter Toronto Ivan Lendl defeated the wily veteran, Jimmy Connors, 6-4, 6-4, yesterday to advance to the final of the $Can602,500 ($NZ777,225) Canadian Open men’s tennis championships.
Lendl’s blistering serve was the difference in a tight match that saw the No. 4 seed Connors, running down balls like a teenager despite the sweltering heat.
