Grant Forbes for swimming team
Grant Forbes, the former New Zealand representative, has been included in the Canterbury swimming team to contest the New Zealand winter championships in Blenheim from August 19 to 21. Forbes is not doing enough training to make a serious bid for full national representation, but on limited training will still be a force at the winter championships. Canterbury will have a team of 42 at the championships — 18 men and 24 women. It was hoped that the New Zealand Olympic swimming representatives would be at the championships, but that wili not be the case. The Canterbury challenge for titles will be led by Forbes, .
