Village for sale
The Government will sell Tapawera Village, all 54 former Forestry houses there being set to pass into private hands. In April last year the owner, Forestry Corporation, passed the village to its commercial arm, Timberlands, which in turn gave control of it to the Treasury. Nelson’s Housing Corporation was designated as the agent for the sale of the houses. But there were no individual titles for each house and the sale was held up by the Maori Council injunction sought on all Crown land. First option for the houses was given last Friday to the tenants.—PA
