Cancer report

Political reporter The long-awaited report on cervical cancer treatment at Auckland’s National Women’s Hospital will be released today. The Government appointed Judge Silvia Cartwright to be a Commission of Inquiry last year, prompted by a magazine article alleging that without the knowledge of patients cervical lesions

were left'under a regime of “limited” treatment at the hospital. The 288-page report to the Minister of Health, Mr Caygill, is the result of weeks of often emotional hearings. The report will be made public this afternoon and is expected to draw a prompt response from Mr Caygill, who has already studied Judge Cartwright’s findings.
