Return visit to Chch
A number of professional photographers will be travelling to Christchurch to attend the photographies ’BB convention which is a part of the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the New Zealand Professional Photographers’ Association. There will also be ’ some photographers ' from overseas including ; two speakers from the < United States and two 1 from Australia. One visitor who will be
no stranger to Christchurch is Gary Rogers who is travelling from Germany. Mr Rogers is a New Zealander who ran a photographic studio in Christchurch many years ago. He left Christchurch in 1970 for a short visit to Germany. The trip was sponsored by Agfa and Mr Rogers included a visit to the Agfa factory. Apparently he took an instant liking for Ger-
many because it has become his adopted country. He now works for the well-known Schoner Wohnen magazine. In 1970 he left a photographic business in Christchurch. As time went on, Mr Rogers’ staff started to become a little concerned about when he would return.
They sent a number of letters to Germany, but the response was less than enthusiastic. Eventually they sent a terse telegram saying, “Come home or else.”
A quick reply telegram from Germany read, “Or else, love Gary.”
Mr Rogers will be visiting family and friends while he is in Christchurch.
