Stars eager to invest in nappies

NZPA-Reiiter New York Burt Reynolds aches to be a father. Linda Evans would give up her career for a child. Richard Chamberlain says he is ready, for the first time. “Cosmopolitan” magazine surveyed childless Hollywood stars for its August issue and found some eager to start buying diapers. Reynolds, who recently married the actress, Loni Anderson, once tried to adopt a child but found his reputation got in the way.

“I went before a review board and the questions they asked were so out of line,” “Cosmopolitan” quoted the actor as saying. “I just got really angry, stormed out. “But I think I’d make a good father. I still want a kid so bad that I ache.” Chamberlain is still a bachelor but ready to change: "For the first time in my life, I feel ready to marry and start a family. I think I have something to give to children now.”

Evans, twice divorced, said she always wanted a baby, even if it meant giving up her role in the television show "Dynasty.” "If I had my choice between a career and being a housewife and mother, I’d choose the latter,” she said.

But Warren Beatty, as famous for his affairs as for his acting and directing, told “Cosmopolitan” that it would not be fair for him to have children. “Children deserve to grow up in a stable environment. And people don’t get married for life anymore, do they?” he said. “My sister (the actress, Shirley MacLaine) once said she couldn’t imagine me with children. She may be right.”
