Society surplus slips
PA Auckland Tax-paid surplus of the New Zealand Permanent Building Society slipped $8746, or 4.2 per cent, to $200,505 in the year ended March 31. Total income increased by 21.6 per cent to $26.8 million. The return paid to saving members and investors was boosted by 26.3 per cent to a record $22.2M and expenses were up 17 per cent at $4.5M. The balance sheet shows that assets grew by $33.1M, or 28 per cent, to more than SISOM. The society experienced a particularly high inflow of funds immediately after the fall in share prices in October.
