‘Get worse soon’ card disgusts M.P.
PA Nelson The member of Parliament for Nelson, Mr Philip Woollaston, is “disgusted and dismayed” by a “get worse” card sent from Nelson to the Prime Minister during his illness. Mr Lange mentioned the card after his discharge from hospital, saying it had cheered him up “no end.” Signed by “Ross and Eleanor,” the message in
the card says they hope the Prime Minister’s illhealth is not a temporary setback and are looking forward to his retirement. “Perhaps you should join the throngs migrating to Australia — the climate being conducive to those of a sickly demenour (sic),” it says. The “Get well soon, on the front of the card was been changed to “Get worse soon,” and a
line in the printed message says: “comes to wish declining health.” An appeal on Radio Fifeshire this week for the authors of the card to come forward brought no response. Mr Woollaston, who obtained the card from Mr Lange’s office and furnished the “Nelson Evening Mail” with a copy, said yesterday he expressed his regret to the Prime Minister-
