Inn stays true to principles
REDWOOD INN 340 Main North Road Telephone 529-165 Licensed By FRANK DUGGAN Dining at the Redwood Inn has changed little over the years, as was evident during a recent mid-week visit. It still retains an air of dignity and this, allied with the three important “Gs” — good food, good, service and a good atmosphere — makes for a relaxing and satisfying evening. Delicate lighting emphasised the various dishes and quickly gave the diner a much greater appetite. For starters, we tried the hot plate, choos-
ing a beef casserole. It was pleasant, combining universal-sized cubes and, thankfully, a gravy that did not run over the plate. Then it was the turn of the cold meats and salads. There was ample variety, ranging from chicken to several choices of meats. The sweets table gave us light relief from the main course, and the fruit salad, pavlova and trifles were selected from a wide range to give the palate a satisfying taste.
Washed down with a bottle of white Chardon, the evening proved yet another pleasant experience, later highlighted by the bill of only $37 for two people.
