Woman faces murder charge

A woman was arrested late yesterday afternoon on a charge of murder after the discovery of a man’s body in a Burnside house [ yesterday morning. The woman, aged 34, will appear in the District Court this morning.. The name of the man, believed to be Chinese, was not
available late last evening. Overseas relatives have yet to be told.
Detective Senior-Sergeant Mike Muddiman, of the Christchurch C. 1.8., said the police were telephoned at 8.50 a.m. yesterday by a man at a Teesdale Street house.
The police went to the house and found the body of a man,
aged 25, in a bedroom. He had knife wounds to the stomach.
The occupants of the house were interviewed by the police and late in the afternoon the woman was arrested.
Arrangements have been made for the care of the woman’s child, aged three months. “A knife believed to have
been used has been found at the address,” Detective SeniorSergeant Muddiman said. A post-mortem examination will be held today. Detective Senior-Sergeant Muddiman said it was believed the. man died during Tuesday night. He said the house was occupied by three adults and a child.
