Women unite in harmony

The Christchurch City Sweet Adelines will combine with a sister chorus from Arizona, United States, to present barbershop harmony covering a century of musical composition.

Songs for the July 27 show include “Memories” from “Cats,” “One” from “A Chorus Line” and the ballad, “Smile.”

The American Sweet Adeline group is the Scotsdale Chorus, a 65-voice group. It will sing in Australian centres before coming to Christchurch.

The guest artist for the “It’s Showtime” concert in the Theatre Royal will be Brendan Dugan. The master of ceremonies will be David Round.

Sweet Adelines, Inc. is an international organisation of women, whose purpose is to teach and perform four-part harmony, barbershop style, and to encourage a universal appreciation of that music.
