Country rivalry
Country club rugby supremacy will be settled under floodlights at Denton Oval this evening when the North Canterbury and Ellesmere firstround winners, CulverdenWaiau and Dunsandel respectively, compete for the Lion Brown Trophy and the right to meet the Town champion on August 17. In a new move, the curtain-raiser will be between the senior B winners, Rangiora and Prebbleton. They will play for the Canterbury Rugby Supporters’ Club Trophy. Culverden-Waiau will be looking to its Canterbury forwards, Grant White and Anton Anthony Dalzell, to win an advantage in the forward exchanges. The teams are:—
Culverden-Waiau: J. Earl; B. Boyd or M. Pool, G. Clark, B. Bevan; C. Walker, S. Fahey; B. Black; G. White; N. Niven, R. Flintoff, P. Gray, A. Dalzell (captain); T. Edmonds, G. Moriarty, A. Taylor.
Dunsandel: S. Boon (captain); R. Happer, C. Happer, T. Beams; L. Maw, B. Nahkies; R. Withell; J. Seymour; A. Bailey, T. Dalton, P. Neame, R. Chapman; M. Nicol, J. Wright, S. Seymour.
