Popular brand for N.Z. photographers

Minolta cameras have been popular in New Zealand since the 1960 s when the SRT 101 competed favourably with Nikon, Pentax, and others, for the top position in single lens reflex cameras.

Minolta cameras still compete favourably with other brands displayed in

camera shops. Minolta has always been innovative in design and helped

to develop autofocusing with the new generation camera, the Maxxum 7000, which' was the European camera of the year in 1985. Then a professional version of the 7000, the Maxxum 9000, came out

with multi-mode metering and other interesting features.

A more basic new generation camera, the Maxxum 5000, was manu-

factured for novice S.L.R. users.

In addition to cameras intended for keen amateur and professional photographers, Minolta has also catered for the popular and specialised market with a variety of compact cameras and the new Weathermatic 35 DL.

This year Minolta celebrates its 60th anniversary.
