$200 a min. for Canty pipers
Canterbury’s own Caledonian Pipe Band earned almost $2OO a minute for its display at a Scottish games festival in North Carolina, United States, over the week-end. The band, the present holder of the Hunter Shield for the best marching pipe band in the country, is touring the United States and Canada.
On Saturday the band took part in the annual Highland Games and Gathering of Scottish Clans at Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina.
The band received $l5OO for its eight-minute performance.
The band left last week for its month-long tour of North America. During the tour it will visit Toronto, Cambridge, Lake Simco, Ottawa, Montreal and Los Angeles. It will compete in the Canadian national pipe band championships next week. The band will return home in early August.
