Champagne service to Expo
State Rail of New South Wales is providing luxurious travel from Sydney to Brisbane’s World Expo ’BB. The Expo Express, launched in May, welcomes passengers with champagne and savouries, and the pampering continues all the way to the terminal
at Brisbane’s new Transit Centre.
A newly refurbished lounge car, with pastel leather armchairs, pale carpets and walls, beautiful glass panels and a bar, provides a cruiseship atmosphere on the 18-hour rail journey.. Passengers are accom-
modated in sleeping compartments or comfortable reclining seats. Gourmet meals are included in the cost of travel and the train can also carry passengers’ cars. The Expo Express runs from Sydney at 10.30 p.m. on Friday and Monday
evenings. Arrival in Brisbane is at 3.15 p.m. the following day. Brisbane departures are at 6.50 p.m. on Tues--day and Saturday. Return fares are: sleeper Aust. $394, seat $275 for adults and $287 or $l7B for children. The fare also includes special Expo information packs.
