Air chief appointed
PA Wellington Air Commodore Peter Adamson will be the next Chief of Air Staff of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Palmer, announced yesterday.
Air Commodore Adamson, aged 51, the present Deputy Chief of Air Staff, will be promoted to Air Vice-Marshal and replace Air Vice-Marshal Patrick Neville, aged 55, who will retire in October, ! Air Commodore Adam- ' joined the R.N.Z.A.F
son joinei ae in 1955 and in 1964 he became a flying instructor at Wigram.
In 1972 he took command of No. 1 squadron and the next year was appointed Officer Commanding Flying Training Wing at Wigram. After a period as a staff officer in Defence Headquarters he became Officer Commanding Operations Wing at Auckland in 1977 and then Senior Air Staff Officer, Air Staff, in Wellington.
Air Commodore Adamson became Deputy Chief of Air Staff in January, last year.
Air Vice-Marshal Neville joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1955 after serving as a navigator in the Royal Air Force.
