Party fight fatal

A young man died after being knocked unconscious outside a flat during a party in Whitby Street, Burnside, early yesterday. He was MARK ROBIN ADAIR, aged 21, a builder’s labourer, of Yaldhurst Road, Christchurch. The fight is believed to have happened at 2 a.m. Partygoers attempted to revive Mr Adair and a doctor was called from the area. Mr Adair was taken to hospital by ambulance and efforts to revive him continued, but he died at 3.20 a.m. Detective Senior-Sergeant Alan Dalzel said the police had arrested and charged two men with manslaughter. Two other men had been charged with assault in relation to another incident at the house. The four men will appear in the District Court today. The party at the rented house was being held by two young women who were celebrating their departure overseas, said Detective Senior-Sergeant Dalzell.
