PA London The 1983 Wimbledon finalist, Chris Lewis, was beaten 4-6, 4-6 by the England No. 1, Jeremy Bates, in the final of the Bournemouth hardcourt tennis championships at the'week-end. The former Kiwi Davis Cup stalwart, who gave up top tennis three years ago, picked up £l5OO (5NZ3795) prizemoney. Lewis plays in the West German club league from his base in Munich, holds coaching clinics for Donnay and enters a few British non-grand prix tournaments in the norther summer, and spends winters over at his home in Sydney, where among other engagements he coaches his friend Wally Masur.
