Loan trust launched
The launch last evening of a church-based finance institution, which will lend money interestfree, lacked the usual razzledazzle of the commercial world, but that was just how the trust wanted it.
Speaking at the launch at the Spreydon Baptist Church, the church pastor, and a former chartered accountant, Mr Howard Taylor, said Christians should not have to be locked into what the commercial world had to offer. The new trust would be the Christian alternative which told people Christians cared. Mr Taylor said the trust had been a dream which he had
worked on for about 18 months. Part of that dream was to break the interest cycle.
The Kingdom Trust was launched with $15,000 of investments received last week, and another slo.'' nn promised this week.
Mr Taylor said he was amazed at the response from people wanting to invest in the trust, and those wanting to take loans. While the loans would be available to anyone, the trust had to ensure borrowers were able to pay back the loans. . “We will provide budget advice for those who need it,” Mr Taylor said.
