Superannuation

Sir,—Mr Dick Jessup, of the Employers’ Federation, calls for a 20 per cent cut in the level of national superannuation. Surely Mr Jessup would be aware that we have already had a severe cut through GST. Apparently he is not aware that those of us who are octogenarian have paid large sums of money into the funds for 50 years. We are still paying. I suggest he takes a closer look at how members of Parliament voted themselves a juicy amount

of money for retirement. Many thousands on superannuation would welcome lesser amounts. I fail to see why a member of Parliament should receive more from the fund than the rest of us. Mr Jessup could also make some inquiries about the huge sums politicians are spending on visits to China, Moscow, Europe, the United States, Africa and the Pacific. — Yours, etc., J. L. MILBURN.
