One in the area of architecture and construction technology, is vacant. Of the two occupied Chairs, one Is an Architectural Design; the other is in Architecture, and carries the Headship of the School and the Deanship of the Faculty of Architecture, Property and Planning. Within five years the present Head will retire, and the roles of Head and Dean may then be separated and win become term appointments. At present one further established position is held as a Personal Chair in Architecture. Applications are invited for two Chairs in Architecture. Both Chairs are concerned with the practice and advancement of Architecture generally. One is seen as having particular emphasis on construction technology and management. The other represents an advance replacement of the Chair currently held by the Head of the School. The persons appointed will be expected to develop teaching and research programmes, maintain close links with the professional and academic communities, and provide leadership within the School. Staff in the School are responsible for teaching at Bachelors (professional), Masters and Doctoral level In two disciplines, Architecture and Property Administration. Commencing salary will be established within the range $NZ74,500 to 5NZ93.000 per annum, having regard to the qualifications of the candidate concerned. Nicoll Registrar University of Auckland Private Bag AUCKLAND THE UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND A CHAIR IN GENERAL PRACTICE (The Elaine Gurr Professor of General Practice) THE generous endowment of a Chair in General Practice by Dr Elaine Gurr of Auckland will enable the School to appoint a full-time Professor of General Practice. The Department of General Practice has recently been established, independent of the Department of Community Health with which it has previously been amalgamated. This appointment will carry with it the Headship of the Department of General Practice for a five year period unless otherwise arranged. The present section of General Practice has two senior academic staff and the equivalent of five full-time teachers recruited from among the General Practitioners of Auckland. This includes GP praeceptors who have clinical students attached to them for varying periods (in the final year It is for one month) and some Clinical Teachers. Also within the teaching group are the Goodfellow Director of Continuing Medical Education in General Practice and the Regional Co-ordinator of the Family Medicine Training Programme. There are associations with a University General Practice within Ikm of the School and a major group practice about 10km from the School.

It is envisaged that the Professor would have association with a General Practice and spend some of his/her time (up to 5/10ths) in practice or clinical research. Applicants must hold advanced medical qualifications registrable in New Zealand and a higher postgraduate qualification in General Practice. Commencing salary will be established within the range $NZ94,500 to SNZIO4,OOO per annum, having regard to the qualifications and experience of the candidate concerned. HISTORY) School of Architecture THE School of Architecture has been developing new course proposals which will extend the teaching of Architectural History In the Intermediate and Professional years of the course for Bachelor of architecture. Candidate should be qualified in architecture or in a related discipline, with experience in practice and teaching and with a record of significant academic achievement in their field, preferably with a postgraduate qualification in architecture or other relevant discipline. The Council will be particularly interested in candidates with competence in architectural history including New Zealand architectural history. The person appointed will be expected to take part in all aspects of the work of the School with particular reference to the courses in Architecture; to take responsibility for the teaching of students at Bachelors and Masters level and from elementary to advanced stages; to assist in co-ordinating part-time specialists; and to undertake research. It is hoped that the successful candidate will take up the position no later than February 1, 1989. Commencing salary will be established within the range $NZ35,000 to $NZ42,100 per annum.
