No date change
The Canterbury Rugby Union last evening decided not to change the date for club semi-final matches from August 6 to August 7 even though the matches clashed with the Canterbury versus North Harbour senior, clash in Christchurch on the same day. A letter from several concerned Canterbury clubs requesting the change of dates was presented before the
committee. The chairman of the competition committee, Mr Craig Sullivan, opposed the change of dates.
Members of the union felt if the dates were changed, players in the Canterbury team’ would have to play on the Saturday, then on the Sunday for their clubs, and again on the following Wednesday at the representative Bay of Plenty versus Canterbury fixture.
