Situations Vacant Situations Vacant * NEW ZEALAND ALUMINIUM SMELTERS LIMITED RAW MATERIALS PURCHASING OFFICER The New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Limited Tiwai Point plant is the eighth largest aluminium smelter in the world with an annual production of 250,000 tonnes of aluminium. The Raw Materials Purchasing Officer is responsible to the Purchasing Superintendent for the procurement of raw materials and the management of raw material inventories. Principal Accountabilities: The purchase of raw materials to allow site departments to achieve their output objectives. Managing the raw material inventories and selecting suppliers capable of meeting our economic strategic service objectives. Principle commodities involved would include brick and refractories, metal hardeners and alloys, cathodes, collector bars and fuel oils. Qualifications and Experience: The position would suit a person with a background in . chemistry, or production engineering, a knowledge of the aluminium production process would be particularly advantageous. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary particularly for negotiating. The successful applicant would z have experience in the use of PCs for forecasting and expediting. This is a demanding position which offers the opportunity for advancement in the supply field.
