Milburn case The chairman of Milburn New Zealand, Ltd (formerly New Zealand Cement Holdings), Mr Bob Stannard, of Wellington, commenting on his company’s application for approval -to purchase Winstones, Ltd, said that the application followed recent publicity concerning the Commerce Commission’s court challenge to the Fletcher Challenge/Winstone merger. He said the company was providing for the possibility that the merger was overturned and that Winstones again became available for purchase. Minolta returns Minolta looks set to regain the lead in the auto-focus SLR camera market with a computer-aided solution to a big problem, the fast-moving subject, industry analysts say. Current auto-focus single lens reflex cameras suffer a micro-second delay between focusing and operating the shutter. Introduced in May, the Alpha 77001 sells for 80,000 yen (SNZB94) in Japan and analysts predict it could double Minolta’s domestic market share to about 40 per cent. Minolta’s first autofocus SLR, marketed in New Zealand as the Minolta 7000, gained 40 per cent of the domestic SLR market in 1985.
