Ian Edwards Quartet
On Friday the lan Edwards Quartet will perform in the Great Hall of the Arts Centre as part of the Amuri Corporation’s Lunch-time Recital Series. The quartet, which plays regularly at Noahs Hotel, is made up of lan Edwards on saxophone, Viv Langabeer, drums, Vince Clarke, bass, and Murray Warner on piano. lan Edwards was born and educated in Christchurch, and first studied the clarinet at high school. Later he joined the Bob Bradford Winter Garden Orchestra. In 1981 he was guest soloist with the Rodger Fox Big Band at the Montreux Jazz Festival. He has toured New Zealand with numerous international artists, including the Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1985. lan Edwards has recorded on radio with Bob Bradford, Doug Kelly and Doug Caldwell. He has also recorded with vocalists Malcolm McNeill and Beaver, and led and arranged for Super Sax style group on N.Z.B.C.’s “Crosscurrents” programme. The recital will begin at 1.10 p.m.
