Singapore, one of the most popular places in Asia, has never been more accessible to New Zealanders. Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand now fly non-stop there seven times a week.
A direct service to Christchurch is flown by Singapore Airlines on Tuesdays, and a second is planned to start in October. Air New Zealand is also expected to announce soon that it will start flying a Boeing 767 from Singapore to Christchurch on a weekly basis The photograph (right) looks down Orchard Road towards the heart of the tourist area. The pagoda-like tower on the skyline is the Dynasty Hotel, regarded by many experienced travellers as the city’s finest.
