Livestock valuations

Farmers who valued their livestock under the herd scheme last year have been assured by the Government that increases in the value of herd livestock in the 1988 income year will not be taxed. The Minister of Revenue, Mr de Cleene, said a drafting error in

the legislation had caused some doubt about the tax position of farmers in the herd scheme. The law would be amended in the next tax bill to make sure that the inflation-proofing provisions of the herd scheme would apply for the 1988 income year, he said.
