The manageress of Shirley Carpets and Furnishings, Ltd, Elaine Adams, cleans up yesterday after fire damaged the shop on Wednesday evening. The fire which damaged the roof and rear of the building and the adjoining takeaway food outlet, Pinnochio’s, was arson, according to the police. The police said paper had been put in a cardboard box and soaked with accelerant. Inquiries are continuing.
