Company has strong historic base

Kirk Motors is an old, established company with over 50 years experience in the motor vehicle field. It is a wholly owned subsidary of Mitsubishi Motors, N.Z. Ltd, and operates six branches in New Zealand, three in Auckland, two in Wellington and one in Christchurch. Kirk’s came to Christchurch in March this year when it took over the Mitsubishi franchise relinquished by Cooper Henderson Motors. It operates from the same site as Cooper Hendersons and has taken over most of the old staff of that firm. “There seems to be some confusion as to how we arrived in Christchurch. We did not buy Cooper Henderson Motors.

All we did was acquire the franchise and take over some of the staff of the old company,” said the Christchurch branch manager of Kirk Motors, Mr Wayne Robertson. The fact that Kirk’s Christchurch is linked to a nation-wide chain gives it a number of benefits over a one-city operation. It can provide:— Wider product range. Faster sourcing of product amongst the group. Sharing of expertise and experience amongst the branches. Latest technology. Highly trained staff. Kirk’s is looking to build up a strong and close association with the people of Canterbury. “We would like to become very much a part of the region. We employ 50

people here who are all living and playing in the Christchurch community. Kirk’s intends becoming more involved in community projects and is already deeply associated with Telethon, where it is supplying drivers and vehicles. “Our facilities are available to organisations for such things as fashion shows, car washing on Sundays for local scout groups and social club activities out the back in the car yard. “We want to be part of the community,” he said.
