Girls on robbery charge

Two girls, aged 16, were arrested after two teenage girls were assaulted and robbed in Cathedral Square yesterday afternoon. Both girls will appear in the Children and Young Persons Court today charged with aggravated robbery. One will face an additional charge of assault. The incident began just after 3 p.m. when the pair approached a girl, aged 16, and her friend, aged 15, .who were sitting outsidexa hamburger bar in Cathedral Square.

The girls allegedly demanded money and one threatened the teenagers with a knife. They then allegedly searched the bags of the two girls and removed a hairbrush. During the incident one of the teenagers was punched several times in the face. The girls then left taking the hairbrush with them but returned soon after and allegedly assaulted the teenagers a second time. , . The police recovered a knife during the arrest.
